Whitney M. Booker, 36, of Minot, passed away on Saturday, in a Minot hospital.

Whitney Marie Booker was born on March 21, 1989, in Minot, North Dakota, to Gregory Booker and Becky (Greg) Odell.

She was raised and educated in Minot, where she spent most of her life.

Whitney found her true calling as a peer support specialist, helping individuals in recovery adjust to a sober lifestyle. Her compassion, honesty, and lived experience made her a powerful advocate for others walking the same path.

Whitney was proud of her own sobriety and devoted to lifting up those around her, never missing a chance to support someone in need.

A creative soul, Whitney loved photography, painting, crafting, and doing makeup tutorials for friends and family. She also had a serious love of music. Her impromptu karaoke performances, usually from the front seat of the car or in the middle of the kitchen, were loud, off-key, and absolutely unforgettable.

Though addiction left lasting effects on her health, ultimately leading to her passing, Whitney faced each day with courage, faith, and hope and she remained committed to her sobriety through it all.

She is survived by her beloved son, JaCobi; her father, Gregory Booker; sisters Farrah Nuzzo, Naomi Turmon, Karina Booker, and Yolanda Brown; brothers DiAndre and Gerimiah Booker; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved her deeply, along with countless friends whose lives she touched.

Whitney was preceded in death by her mother, Becky Odell, and her nephew, Jalen Ballard.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Thursday, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge in Minot. A prayer service and time of sharing memories will begin at 5 p.m.
