Jerome Allen Koppelsloen, 82, passed away on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.

Jerome was born on Dec. 19, 1942, at the family home in Columbus, ND to Olea and Alfred Koppelsloen.

He was raised in Columbus, where he attended school and graduated from high school in 1960.

He attended Minot State University for a year before returning to Columbus to help on the family farm.

In 1963, Jerome married Barbara Froehlich, and together they built a life on their farm and ranch in Columbus. While farming, Jerome held a variety of other jobs over the years, including hauling coal and water, working in the oil field, driving school bus, and working as a crop insurance adjuster.

He had many interests, including hunting, fishing, horses, painting, trading cars, and playing guitar. He loved music and could often be heard whistling or singing a tune.

Another of his favorite pastimes was playing cards, and he especially enjoyed a competitive game of pinochle.

After retiring from farming in 2005, Jerome and Barb moved to Minot. He continued to work for RCIS as a crop insurance adjuster until 2018.

Jerome deeply loved his family and was a devoted husband and father. He led with quiet wisdom, sharing life lessons through both his actions and his words.

He passed on his strong values, his love of music, and his appreciation for animals to his beloved daughter, Sheila.

His granddaughters, Ashley and Brittany, held a special place in his heart. He cherished every moment spent with them and took great pride in being their grandpa.

Jerome also had a special relationship with his son-in-law, Mark. They spent many hours hunting, working, and driving the countryside together.

Jerome is survived by his wife, Barbara Koppelsloen; daughter, Sheila (Mark) Morgan; grandchildren, Ashley (Kyle) Nichols, Brittany (Cody) Uran; great-grandchildren, Lakyn and Emmitt Uran, and Addyson Nichols; sister, Sherlene (Jim Clute) Nelson; sister-in-law, Jean Koppelsloen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
