Stanley Freeman

Stanley Freeman from Kenmare, went to his maker on May 20, 2025 after a much too short stay at the ND Veterans Home in Lisbon, where he had been wonderfully cared for.
He was born on Dec. 9, 1946 in Minot and graduated from Granville public school and the ND State School of Science at Wahpeton, ND in auto body repair.
He and Linda were married at Norwich Lutheran Church, Norwich, ND on Dec. 23, 1966.

He owned and operated Freeman Oil & Body Shop in Kenmare for many years before retirement. He loved sports and coached pee wee basketball, women’s softball, umpired baseball, and played men’s & coed softball for many years.
He loved helping Tim Dignan and later grandsons Cody and Riese with their race cars and loved hunting with family and friends. He also helped build several demolition derby cars.
Stan was very active in community activities and received a Distinguished Service Award from the Kenmare Jaycees and was inducted into the Goosefest Hall of Fame. He acted as sound man for Larry Nelson’s band-Silver Creek, enjoyed golfing with friends and served on the Kenmare Country Club board for several years.
He also enjoyed playing poker. He especially enjoyed the family get-togethers and camping trips with family and friends. He took up woodworking and built many beautiful pieces for family members.
Stan was a proud veteran of the Vietnam war as a member of the US Army 91st Engineering Battalion and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He served many years on the Vet’s Gaming. He was also lucky enough to be able to go on the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. and really enjoyed it.
He will be missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda (Nelson) Freeman, daughter Michelle (Freeman) (Dignan) Hennix (Rick Hennix), daughter Carmen (Freeman) Felch (Steve Ness), daughter Kristi (Freeman) Veitz, son Tyler Freeman (Corene Knutson), grandchildren Cody Dignan (Heather Rahn), Riese Dignan (Denyce Helmers), Ashlyn Veitz, Baxter and Valerie Freeman, Special children, Gage and Brickston Holter and Gloria and Vivian Helmers, sisters and brothers in law, cousins in law, nieces and nephews and countless friends.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce Freeman and Selma (Lueck) Freeman, step-father, Roy Miller, 2 brothers, Earl and Dennis Freeman, 2 sisters, Darlene (Freeman) Herman and Shirley (Freeman) Berg, and 2 nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at Nazareth Lutheran Church on Saturday, June 7 at 11 a.m. Family is asking that donations in Stan’s memory be given to the N.D. Honor Flight or the ND Veterans Home in Lisbon, N.D.
