Kimberly “Kim” Dalen, 67, Ruthville, ND, died Thursday, May 1, 2025, in her home with her loving family by her side.
Kimberly Ann Dalen was born December 31, 1957, the daughter of James and Colleen (Anfinson) Dalen, in Minot, ND. She was raised and educated in Minot. She graduated from Minot High School in 1976.
Following high school, Kim started working at Piggly Wiggly and later went to Nash Finch for 15 years. She was employed by Tinker Air Force Base for 20 years until her retirement.
Kim married Leo Duchsherer in 1977 in Minot. They later moved to Wyoming, and they were blessed with two children, Josh and Amanda. They later divorced.
Kim married Mark Despeaux in 1987, and she gained three stepchildren, Jim, Diana, and Mark Jr. They later moved to Oklahoma City where they later divorced.
She continued to live in Oklahoma before moving back to North Dakota in 2017 to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
Kim loved traveling to Mexico, going to the lake, and going on long motorcycle rides. She loved being around people and having a good time. She enjoyed family time, telling stories, playing cards, dice, and eating Sammy’s Pizza. Kim loved to read and watch her favorite TV show Chicago Fire. Kim gave everyone a run for their money. She was spicy one.
Her loving family includes: children, Josh (Nikki) Duchsherer, Amanda (Chris) Evenson; grandchildren, Damion, Abby, Nathan, and Kallee; brother, Steve (Sharon) Dalen; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and all of Kim’s caregivers from Home Helpers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Lynn; nephews, Paul and Gary; great-niece, Patricia; many aunts and uncles; and her beloved dog, Patch.
Memorial Service: Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND.
