Kathryn “Kathy” Swanson, 65, Minot, died on May 4, 2025, in her home.

Kathryn was born on June 17, 1959, in Minot, North Dakota to Robert and Marie (Monson) Knutson. She was raised and educated in Minot where she graduated High School.

Kathy brought two daughters into this earthly life, Sarah and Miriam. Her daughters were blessed with the gift of adoption joining their forever families as infants.

Kathy was united in marriage to Kenneth “Kenny” Swanson on September 21, 1990, at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot. They settled in rural Minot (Logan) where they lived happily with their 3 dogs, Macy, Shadow and Sadie until her passing.

Kathy was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Minot. She adored the lake life, fishing, and camping -always in search of the whopper she never encountered. She loved to shop, particularly for her pets. She enjoyed baking and cooking for everyone and was famous for her donuts.

Kathy was always witty and had a quick remark about everything. She was kind-hearted with a joyful spirit that brought smiles and laughter.

She was employed at Copper Pot Restaurant, Bells Club, Brays Cleaning and Papa Murphys.

Kathy was once married to Neal Knutson. Through this union, their son Casey was born.

Kathryn is survived by her husband, Kenny of 34 years and “My Buddy”, Macy; siblings: brother, Paul Knutson of Minot; sisters, Barb (Dave) Lampron of Vermont and Ruth Lang of Minot; father, Robert Knutson of Minot; mother-in-law, Elaine Swanson and sister-in-law, Penny Knutson of Minot; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her infant son, Casey Knutson; mother, Marie; brother, Dale Knutson; father-in-law, Duane Swanson; and brother-in-law, Tony Starke.
