Memorial services will be Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 1 p.m., at the Ebenezer Congregational Church in Sidney, Mont. with Pastor David Meehan officiating.

She will be laid to rest at a later date in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Minot, N.D.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sidney Health Cancer Center, Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center, Fargo, N.D. or the charity of your choice in her honor.

On May 11, 2025, Dorothy Ella Rogers, 76, of Sidney, Mont. went home to be with Jesus. Dorothy passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Sanford Health in Fargo, N.D.

Dorothy was born June 25, 1948, to Dale and Rose (Schelin) Shelkey in Minot, North Dakota. Dorothy was the eldest of 10 children. She grew up and attended school in Berthold.

Dorothy met the love of her life, Richard Rogers when they were Juniors in High School. After graduating from Berthold High School in May of 1966, Dorothy and Richard were married on Oct. 21, 1966. They had 5 children, Laura, Rick, Blaine, Brenda and Loren.

In Sept. of 2010, they moved to Sidney and made this their home. Dorothy worked various jobs including owning her own bridal shop, self-employed bookkeeper, Sidney Sugars during campaign and was an avid Avon Representative up until Feb. 2025, when she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma.

Dorothy loved traveling to see her kids, grandkids, great grandkids and other family members.

Last summer was full of exciting trips making wonderful memories. Dorothy and her daughter, Laura took the train to the west coast to visit family.

She also went to New Mexico and Disney World with her daughter Brenda, granddaughter Lizzie (Tim), and family.

Dorothy’s son, Rick and Barb took her to a Nascar race in Kansas, and the Norsk Hostfest Scandinavian Festival in Minot.

Two years ago, Dorothy’s son, Blaine and Devra took her to Kansas to spend Thanksgiving with her granddaughter, Erica and family. Dorothy and Richard loved spending time at the lake. They loved fishing, campfires, playing cards and making wonderful memories with family and friends. Dorothy loved spending countless hours watching her grandkids and great grandkids school programs and sporting events.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters Laura Rogers of Williston and Brenda Oddo of Laurel, MS; sons Rick (Barb) Rogers of Williston, and Blaine (Devra Goulart) Rogers of Sidney; siblings Frank (Nicki) Shelkey of Berthold, Dayle Anne (Gary) Barnett of Minot, Layne (Charlotte) Shelkey of Minot, Patti Shelkey (Kevin Hanson) of Ryder, Laurene (Dennis) Ness, of Minot, David (Cathy) Shelkey of Berthold, Mary Shelkey (Kevin Dirks) of Bismarck, and Andy (Pam) Shelkey of Minot; brothers-in-law Gary (Sherry) Rogers of Minot and Jim Sand; sister-in-law Belva Rogers; 16 grandchildren Jeffrey (Ashley) Stein, Shaundra Stein, Mariah Slater, Destiny Rogers, Caitlin Rogers, Erica Rogers, Christine Rogers, Chelsie Rogers, Lizzie Oddo, Monte Oddo, Sammie Brudwick, Jazmyn Rogers, Michael Rogers, Bailey Rogers, and Kaelen Vaughn; 13 great-grandchildren Lane Stein, Loren Rogers, Holly Rogers, Kewon McCollum, Jordyn McCollum, Odin Morgan, Makenna Stein, Riley Stein, Kadence Rogers, Ryin Rogers, Mason Denton, David Rogers, and Astella Rogers; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Richard; parents Dale and Rose; son, Loren; in-laws, Lyle and Laura Rogers; brother Neil Shelkey; sister-in-law Corrine Sand; brothers-in-law Gerald (Butch) Rogers, Lyle Rogers, Andrew Rogers, Jeffrey Rogers, and Steve Rogers; sister-in-law Mary Rogers; grandson, Brian Oddo; and nephew Rory Shelkey.
