Brock B. Savelkoul, 43, Minot, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025, in a Minot hospital from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Brock Bruce Savelkoul was born on December 25, 1981, the son of Bruce and Anna Marie (Johnson) Savelkoul in Minot, ND. He attended school in Minot until 1997 and then moved to Glenburn, ND, where he graduated from Glenburn High School in 2001. He furthered his education by attending Bismarck State College. While in college he worked various jobs across the state.
In January of 2003, Brock enlisted into the United States Army at Ft. Riley Kansas. He proudly served his country for seven years, serving three tours in the Gulf War, which amounted to, two years, three months, and four days in Iraq. His awards include the Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal, amongst several others. He was honorably discharged on March 31, 2010.
In 2017, he was united in marriage to Faith Montejo. To this union, Brock’s pride and joy was born, daughter Stella. They later divorced. He was the best dad, with having such a special relationship, always went above and beyond to make her happy.
He loved going to the Badlands with his dad to hunt/ At the age of 14, Brock was able to get a trophy mule deer buck in one of his favorite places. In 2010, it is also where he went to try to go out in a “Blaze of Glory” but luckily God and all his angels were watching out for him. To treat his PTSD and TBI, he was in and out of many hospitals in Hawaii, Kansas, California, Minnesota, and was finally starting to get back on track.
He was an active member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, ND Chapter 42-1.
He was a loving son, father, brother, uncle, and friend.
Everyone in our family likes the Vikings and Twins, but Brock was the odd ball and stuck with his San Francisco 49’ers.

Aunts and Uncles: Stanley (Linda) Savelkoul, Scott (Myra) Savelkoul, JoAnne Kirk, Carolyn (Pete) Pedersen, Vickie Savelkoul, Cindy Savelkoul, Dave (Nicole) Johnson, Tim (Sarah) Johnson, Tracie Johnson;
Several cousins also survive: Tanya (Marty) Owens, Kelsey Savelkoul, Kristy (Chris) Goettle, Joseph (Nao) Savelkoul, Josh Savelkoul, Marshall (Kathy) Johnson, Mac (Brooke) Johnson, Issac Johnson, Nathan Johnson, Lindy (Allen) Suelzle, Mickey Savelkoul, Chase Gunner Pedersen; Carlye Nesson, Katie Kirk and Chris Kirk and a very special friend, Joanie Daigle who helped tremendously when Brock was going through issues after getting out of the Army.
Brock was preceded in death by his mother Anna Marie, paternal Grandparents Donald and Audrey Savelkoul, maternal grandparents Melvin and Hurdis Johnson; four uncles Henry, Kenny, Brian Savelkoul and Mitch Johnson
Visitation: Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, May 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to a trust fund that will be made for Stella, or the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association ND Chapter 42-1.
