Marion Nevland

Marion J. Nevland, 86, St. Paul, MN, formerly of Minot died on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 in a Maplewood, MN memory care center.

Marion Joyce was born on September 21, 1938 in Rugby, ND to Peter and Sylvia (Torgerson)

Lysne. She was raised in Silva, ND and graduated from Velva High School in 1956. Marion married Norman A. Nevland on January 9, 1966 at Oak Valley Lutheran Church in Velva. They made their home in Minot and were blessed to be the parents of Maren, Dawn and Chad.

Marion was employed at Peoples State Bank in Velva for nearly a decade until moving to Wells Fargo Bank in Minot. She worked in the safety and deposit division. Marion retired in September of 2000.

Norman died on August 6, 2018. Marion continued to reside in Minot until moving to The Shores of Lake Phalen in Maplewood, MN in 2022.

Marion was a member of First Lutheran Church and a past member of the Elks and Eagles Aerie, all of Minot. She enjoyed bowling and traveling, especially when going to visit her sister Karen in Arizona. Shopping was always on her list of favorite activities but a close second was volunteering every year at Minot’s Hostfest. Marion valued time spent with family and will be missed most by all who called her mom, grandma and great grandma.

Marion’s loving family includes her children Maren (Scott) Weishaar, St. Paul, MN, Dawn Nevland (Jim Hickley), Le Mars, IA and Chad (Heather) Nevland, Alma, WI; grandchildren Jamie (Shauna) Weishaar, Casey Weishaar, Kayla Hinckley and Samantha (Matt) Park, Paige, Payton, Isabel, Brailey, and Kaelyn Nevland; great grandchildren Ariel, Ayden, Ava, Amelia, Asher, Bentley and Matthew; sisters Karen Krebsbach, Minot and Audrey Needham, Fargo; brother-in-law Gary (Vicki) Jacobs, Summitt, MS; sisters-in-law Kim Dunn, Redondo Beach, CA and Thelma Lysne, Velva along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Marion was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norman, siblings Richard Lysne, Howard (Clarabell) Lysne, Orvin (Irene) Lysne and Meryle (Lyle) Lunde, and brothers-in-law Don Needham and Paul Krebsbach.

Celebration of the Life of Marion Nevland: 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2025 at First Lutheran Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Thursday, April 10, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home – Minot.

Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church, Minot.
