Kathleen “Kathy” Ell, 77, Minot, ND, passed away peacefully Monday, March 24, 2025, at Unsong Assisted Living, Minot.

Kathleen Marie Ell was born April 28, 1947, the daughter of Rochus and Mary (Walter) Ell, in Karlsruhe. She was raised on the family farm and educated in elementary school at Folsom township in Verendrye, ND.

She belonged to the 4-H Club as a young girl and won many ribbons. She was a member of the Tops Club and was a cheerleader. She graduated from Karlsruhe High School in 1965.

Following high school Kathy attended Bernel Hairstyling College in Bismarck, graduating in April 1966. She then worked at various beauty salons in Minot.

The last few years of her career she owned her own salon, Detangles Hair. She also worked for ManorCare Health Services as their beautician. She worked for a brief time as a home health aide. She also did hair for many years for Thompson-Larson Funeral Home.

Her greatest joy was traveling. She took numerous trips and cruises. She also enjoyed reading, quilting, embroidery and ceramics.

She will be incredibly missed and always remembered for her beautiful smile.

Her loving family includes: best friend of 55 years, Nicki Newport; brothers, LeRoy (Cecelia) Ell, James (Sharon) Ell, Melvin (Cyndy) Ell, Ralph Ell, Kevin (Darcie) Ell; sisters, Gayle (John) Schmidt, Carla Twete; nephews, Jodi Ell, Corey Ell, Jeffrey Ell, Christopher Ell, Hayden Ell, Becker Ell; nieces, Joni DeMontigny, Meghan Joyce, Kami Lipelt, Cassadie Ell, LinLee Udell, Lincoln Ell; aunt, Isabel “Issy” Brossart; uncle, Raymond “Buddy” Walter; Godchildren, Suzie (Brossart) Kraft, Corey Ell, Steffanie Ell, Hayden Ell, LuAnn (Walter) Grovum, Brian Reichenberger; and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant brother, Jeffrey; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Vigil Prayer Service: Friday at 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials: are preferred to Alzheimer’s Association, ND or organization of donor’s choice.
