Harold Duane Greek, 88, Mohall, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at a Minot hospital.
He was born Sept. 6, 1936, to E. Lacy and Amelia (Tanberg) Greek, in Cutbank Township, Bottineau County. He attended the Cutbank Township Country School through the eighth grade, and graduated from Mohall High School in 1954. Harold then attended the Bottineau School of Forestry.
Harold married the love of his life, Sharlene Smith, daughter of John and Adrie Smith, on March 15, 1955. They would have celebrated their 70th anniversary this year. Harold and Sharlene farmed the Greek family farm while raising their seven children. They retired in 2000. He was active in the community.
He belonged to the Mohall Jaycees and served on the board for the following organizations: Renville Bottineau Ag Improvement, State Crop Improvement, the Farm Service Association, Mohall Credit Union, Fall Fair, Mohall Farmers Union, St. Jerome Catholic Church, and the Renville Bottineau Senior Citizen Home Improvement.
Harold managed the Grand Theater when the Mohall Jaycees sponsored the theater. He was active at St. Jerome Catholic Church, teaching CCD and singing in the choir.
After retiring, Harold drove a school bus for the Mohall school for 15 years. Harold’s love surrounded his family; his faith, love, and example guided all their lives.
Family: Harold is survived by his wife of 70 years, Sharlene Greek, Mohall; children, Gregory (Colette) Greek, Grand Forks, Candyce (Winston) Titus, Bismarck, Jeffrey (Katie) Greek, Castle Rock, Colo., Vicki Michels, Minot, Pamela Heyd, Grand Forks, Kari (Eddie) Berentson, Minot, and Melissa (Dan) Lovelace, Sawyer; 19 grandchildren, Michael (Riann) Greek, Katy (Jeff) Oher, Kristen (Matt) Erredge, Matthew Greek, Melanie (Russ) Morgan, Winston Ryan (Bridgette) Titus, Adam (Tonilee) Titus, Brittany (Joe) Bellew, Amelia Greek, Rachel Greek, Aaron (Crystal) Michels, Eric (Emily) Michels, Ashley Heyd, Alexander Heyd, Lacey (Cole) Krueger, Tyrone (Maddie) Berentson, Nicholas Berentson, Dillon Greek and Sidney (Jacob Widdel) Lovelace; 25 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Janine Webb, Hansine Greek and Sandy Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Harold was preceded in death by: his parents, E. Lacy and Amelia Greek; brothers, James and Gerald Greek; sister, Beverly Pillatzke; mother- and father-in-law, John and Adrie Smith; brothers-in-law, John, Gary, and Boyd Smith, and James Pillatzke; and great-granddaughter, Ella Marie Greek.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2025, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, Mohall.
Burial: Mohall Community Cemetery, Mohall, at a later date.
Recitation of the Rosary/Vigil Service: 7 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2025, at the church.
