Marj Brandt

Dec. 3, 1956-Feb. 10, 2025

Underwood

Marjorie (Marj) Blanche (Tiegen) Brandt, 68, Underwood, passed away Monday, February 10, 2025, in The Villages, FL under hospice care due to complications of an aneurysm.

Marj was born on December 3, 1956 in Crosby, ND to Margaret and Edwin Tiegen. She was the fourth of five girls, raised on the farm southeast of Crosby. Marj attended primary school in Crosby, graduating in 1975. She then attended college in Wahpeton, ND, where she met her life partner, Guy Brandt.

Following college in Wahpeton, Marj and Guy were married shortly after, moved to Underwood, and welcomed children Codi and Tyler in the years following. They made their life in Underwood and lived there as of her passing.

Marj was a full-time mom while the kids grew up in Underwood. The family loved spending time riding horses in the Badlands and camping, making memories with old friends and family from all over North Dakota. She was a great cook, and the “queen of substitutions” in her recipes. We can still taste her “chicken pot pie,” made with 100% beef!

Later in life, Marj spent her time bartending and laughing with friends, old and new. She was always quick-witted and ready to crack a joke, always in good fun. Most of the time, as she would let you know, the joke was about her!

She was always up for an adventure with one of many friend groups. Whether it be visiting lifelong friends and relatives in Crosby, riding side-by-side in the Black Hills of South Dakota, or socializing in The Villages, Florida where she and Guy spent their winters, Marj had a way of being able to visit and joke with anyone in a lighthearted way.

Marj is survived by her husband of 47 years, Guy, of Underwood, ND; daughter, Codi (Kurt) Potts and children Ocie and Corbin; and son, Tyler Brandt of Fargo, ND; sisters Lorraine Koehler, Crosby, ND and Sharyn (Johnny) Mohagen, Moorhead, MN; brothers-in-law Don Carlson, Harold Westin, Raoul (Rimute) Brandt, Bruce (Ana Marie) Brandt, Doran (Kim) Brandt, and Craig (Deb) Brandt; sister-in-law Penny (Bob) Farrell along with many nieces and nephews.

Marj was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Tiegen and Margaret Tiegen; sisters Eleanor Carlson and Lois Westin; nephew, Wade Westin; father-in-law, Carroll Brandt; mother-in-law, Glenda Orke; father-in-law, Don Orke and several aunts and uncles.
