Julie Knutson, 53, Garrison, ND, passed away Monday, February 10, 2025, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo.

Julie Irene Jeffrey was born December 26, 1971, the daughter of Dennis and Nellie (Sturgeon) Jeffrey, in South Carolina. She was raised and educated in Towner, ND, graduating in 1990. After high school she studied at Bottineau, attended cosmetology school in Minot, and then decided to pursue train engineering school, where she worked for Canadian-Pacific Railroad following her education. She had many stories of her adventures on the road.

In her younger days, Julie loved to horseback ride, even doing trick riding. She loved to travel and attend concerts.

Julie was blessed with two children, Matt and Kassi. She was an amazing mom and best friend to them. She was always supportive of their endeavors and activities. She could always convince them to tag along for a shopping day or a trip to the movie theater. There are many fond memories of her competitive Monopoly games with the family, where she of course had to win!

In 2002 Julie met the love of her life, Robert Miller. Shortly after, she received her MS diagnosis, and they decided to live to the fullest by traveling and checking vacations off her bucket list. Robert was not only her best friend, but the most selfless caretaker she could have asked for.

Julie had a massive love for Christmas, spending days decorating the whole house and buying gifts year-round…she may have been QVC and Amazon’s best customer! She loved to have her nails done and was a regular at her favorite nail salon. If you knew Julie, you could always expect a quick comeback, wit or a joke. Julie loved her dogs, always having room at home for one more! She could convince anyone to make cookies or baked goods for her.

During her fight with MS, she was a warrior. Julie always kept a positive attitude, a smile on her face, and a love for life. Her family would like to thank the staff of the Garrison Hospital for all the amazing care and dedication she was given during her time living there.

Her loving family includes: partner of 22 years, Robert Miller; children, Matthew (Brooke) Miller and their sons, Fletcher and Campbell, Kassi (Justin) Thacker and their dog, Darla; parents, Dennis and Nellie Jeffrey; brother, David (Beth) Jeffrey, and their children, Kailee and Emalie; and numerous cousins. Memorial Service: Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Garrison.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church.
