Donald “Skip” Erickson, 98, of Minot, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at the Somerset Court Assisted Living in Minot, ND. Springan Stevenson Funeral Home of Stanley, ND is assisting the family. Condolences may be left on our funeral home website at www.springanstevenson.com.

Donald C (Skip) Erickson was born November 6, 1926, in Coulee, ND to Edd A. and Lenora (Bryant) Erickson.

Growing up, Skip attended grade school in several states. He attended the first two years of high school in Monterey, California. He graduated from Donnybrook, ND high school in 1945.

Skip was drafted into the U.S Army near the end of World War II. He was stationed in Panama.

Skip married Coleen Hagerud on December 6, 1946. The couple farmed near Coulee for a time before answering the call to mission work in Bolivia, South America.

He attended Minot State College, the Lutheran Bible Institute and Fuller Seminary School of World Missions. He graduated from Kings Way Mission Institute in McAllen, Texas in Spanish language and culture. Skip graduated from the American College and Seminary with a BA degree in Bible. He was ordained into ministry under the World Ministry Fellowship.

He and Coleen served as missionaries in Bolivia, South America. In later years they served in Mexico.

After retirement, they spent winters in the south and summers in North Dakota. They enjoyed trips in their motorhome and attending RV campouts.

Skip loved to read, and he also spent a great deal of time polishing rocks and making jewelry items.

Coleen passed away July 2, 2015. In December 2022 he moved to Somerset Court in Minot. He enjoyed it there. He was a member of the American Legion ND post #26, Wm G. Carroll, and a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Kenmare, ND.

He is survived by sisters-in-law, Marlys Anderson and Janice Dill, Minot and Carolyn (Dale) Anderson, Chandler, Arizona. Special nieces, Tawny Quist and Terri Hoskin, Minot and several other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by Coleen, his wife of 69 years, his parents and nine siblings.

Cremation has taken place, and burial will be in the spring at the Coulee Cemetery beside his wife. No services are planned at this time.
