Cleve Lyle Hanson, 97, Kenmare, ND died Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Mountrail Bethel Home in Stanley, ND.
Cleve Lyle Hanson was born on January 23, 1927, a son of Cleve and Gertrude (Jensen) Hanson in Kenmare, ND. He was raised on the family farm and attended a rural school in Denmark Township.
Following his education, Lyle enlisted in the United States Army proudly serving his country, serving in Okinawa, Japan during WWII. Following two years of service he was honorably discharged. Several years later he was honored to attend the WWII Honor Flight in Washington, DC.
On November 30, 1951, Lyle was united in marriage to Elveria Krueger in Minot, ND. They made their home on the Hanson farm where they enjoyed farming and raising their six children. They recently celebrated their 73rd anniversary.
Lyle enjoyed many activities which included hunting and fishing and he liked to play golf. He had a love for aviation and enjoyed flying his own private planes. He loved sharing these activities with his family and friends. After retiring Lyle and Elveria took many trips together in their motorhome. Lyle was a member of the Nazarene Church in Kenmare.
Lyle and Elveria had 6 children; Craig C. (Kim) Hanson, of Tolley, Jeanene B. (Dave) Rockstad, of Williston, Bruce D. Hanson, Curtis L. Hanson, Paul C. Hanson, all of Kenmare, John A.(Yvonne) Hanson, of Culbertson MT; grandchildren, Erik (Justine) Hanson, Keith (Katie) Hanson, Katy (Derek) Peterson, Kristina (Michael) Schuh, Timothy (Megan) Rockstad, Jonathan (Kristyl) Rockstad, Kyle Hanson, Andrew Hanson, Levi Hanson, Rachael Hanson, Amy (Shane) Harris, Christopher Hanson, Karen Hanson, Shyla Hanson; 18 great grandchildren; others who shared in his life include several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Fern Krenelka, Audrey Madsen, Doris Brekhus and Joanne Applegate.
A private family service will take place at a later date at Thompson-Larson Funeral home in Kenmare, ND
