Leonard Parizek
July 4, 1943-Dec. 18, 2023
Deering
Leonard George Parizek, 80, died on a bright winter night December 18th, 2023. The night he left this earth, the sky was lit up with stars and the Aurora borealis.
Leonard George Parizek was born on July 4th, 1943, (a firecracker baby) a son of George and
Verona (Mellum) Parizek. He was raised on the farm and educated in Deering, ND. Graduating
from Deering High School in 1961, in the fall of 1961 he packed up and drove to Fargo to attend
NDSU for one year. He missed the life on the farm, and returned to Deering, he continued to
alway learn, and problem solve. Which came in handy when he worked for numerous years at Sykes, in Minot.
Leonard was united in marriage to Sandra Miller on June 19th 1965, in Bottineau, ND. Their first
home was in Deering, where Sandra taught elementary school, and Leonard farmed with his
parents. They were soon blessed with two daughters, Cindy and Brenda to complete their
family.
The opportunity arose to purchase a farm near Glenburn in 1971, milking cows, raising cattle
and riding horses along with continuing to farm near Deering and Granville. The family would
often attend horse shows, rodeos, sporting events and dances, of course Leonard could be found on the dance floor kicking up his heels.
Leonard was known for his love of the outdoors, deer hunting, raising animals and enjoying the
wide open spaces. As a farmer and rancher, he was always tinkering on machinery, if it was
broke, he could make it work. A cowboy at heart, his favorite memories were herding cattle on
his horse Chochees, spending much of his time making hay, checking fields and fence lines.
When he was home, he enjoyed watching westerns, chatting with friends and neighbors.
His loving family includes: his wife, Sandra, Valley City, ND; daughters, Cindy Ross and
Brenda (Erik) Bjork, Valley City, ND; brother, Duane, Williston, ND; grandchildren, Brandon,
Austin, Mikaylah, Hanna, Amanda, Rylee and Haylee; best friends and neighbors, Rodney and
Jodi Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Verona Parizek; brother, Miles; infant
brother, Robert Adrian Parizek; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as many friends.
Please join us in celebrating Lenny’s life here on earth, October 12th, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at Big Red’s Saloon, Deering, ND.
