June 25, 1948-Oct. 23, 2024

Minot

Keith Charles Kjelson, 76, Minot, formerly of Portal, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at Trinity Health, Minot.

Keith was born June 25, 1948, the son of Alfred and Hazel (Holmes) Kjelson, in Crosby, ND. He was raised and educated in Portal, ND, graduating from Portal High School in 1967, in a class of seven students who have remained his lifelong friends.

In 1977, Keith married Beth Stevens in Minot. The joys of Keith’s life were his two sons, Eli & Billy. His sons’ friends became his own, as they were able to enjoy all types of music, film, and endured Keith’s dry sense of humor together. Keith loved his family pets and Gatsby, Kiki, Max and Sissy, who were a great comfort to him in the last days at home.

Keith worked from 1974-2014 in both Minot and Bismarck IKeating stores. At IKeating, the people he worked with became lifelong friends. His coworkers nicknamed him “Yoda” because they appreciated his work ethic and his sense of humor. He also had a 43-year partnership in Artmain of Downtown Minot.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Beth Stevens-Kjelson, two sons: Elijah (Cera Pignet) Kjelson, and William Kjelson, sister: Cheryl Fischer, sisters-in-law: Marla Stevens and Susan Grigsby-Stringer, brother-in-law: Dwight Fyllesvold, special cousin Susan Stevens, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Keith was preceded in death by all his parents, sister: Wilma Fyllesvold (Bell), brothers: Robert Bell and William Bell Jr, brothers-in-law: Robert Grigsby, March Stevens, and Russell Fischer.

We would like to thank all friends and family for the kindness and generosity shared in Keith’s honor.

The memorial gathering will be Friday Nov 1st from 2-4 p.m., at The Carnegie Center, 105 2nd Ave SE, Minot, ND.

Internment at Fairview Cemetery in Glenburn, ND on Saturday November 2nd at 1 p.m.
