Delores Hager, age 90, of Rugby passed away Sunday, September 15, in a Minot hospital. Delores was born to Joseph and Margaret (Klein) Gumeringer near Esmond, ND on October 24, 1933.
She attended country school through the elementary grades and graduated from Esmond High school in 1951. Delores then went on to obtain a teaching certificate from Minot State Teacher’s College.
Her teaching career began in Watford City for 3 years, followed by a year in Fessenden, and 23 years in Balta. Her love for teaching continued after retirement, serving as a substitute teacher for over 25 years in the Rugby School system. She had many loving, endearing stories to share about her work with young children.
Delores was united in marriage to Edmund Hager on June 17, 1957. They made their home on the family farm near Balta until moving to Rugby in 2013. Delores, a woman of devout faith, was a long time member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Esmond, and later, Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crafts, reading, spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandkids.
Delores is survived by her son, Wayne (Donna) of Rugby and daughter, Jody (Greg) Endres of Carrington; granddaughters, Lynsey (Trevor) Van Nevel, Nicole (Mario) Lemieux, Erin Endres, Claire (Jacob) Bitz, Ann Endres, and Jill (Joe) Forde, 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Bill (Cathy) Gumeringer of Bismarck and sisters-in-law, Agnes Schell of Minot and Rita (Gary) Thomas of Green Valley, Arizona, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a great-grandson, Jack Lemieux; her parents and siblings, Betty, Judy, Frank, Bert, Edward, Edmond and Raymond.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to the Little Flower cemetery, Heart of America Library of Rugby, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or a favorite charity of your choice.
Mass of Chrisitan burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby with burial in the church cemetery. Father Franklin Miller, Celebrant.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the Funeral Home in Rugby and will continue on Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
Rosary, vigil prayer service and sharing of memories will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
