Crystal Maureen Morningstar Hale was born in Los Angeles, California, on July 13, 1962, to Maurice and Bernice (Wilkinson) Morningstar. She grew up in the Bay Area, and in 1978, she relocated to New Town, North Dakota, where she met Lyle Smith. Crystal and Lyle welcomed their daughter, Davina Nicole, on June 11, 1980.

In her late 20s, while babysitting, Crystal met her soulmate, Millard Hale, Jr. They exchanged vows on April 21, 1991, at the Gospel Tabernacle in New Town. Their family grew with the birth of Laurice Victoria on April 16, 1996, followed by baby Irene Louise on January 18, 1999. Crystal and Millard made their home in New Town, where they dedicated themselves to raising their family.

Crystal was a hard worker, and held various jobs, in addition to being a stay-at-home mom. Her most cherished role was being a mom and supporting her children’s activities. She was devoted to her family and was particularly protective of her daughters. Crystal enjoyed decorating for holidays and birthdays and valued the time spent with her family and friends. She had a big heart for children and loved cuddling babies. One of her favorite memories was when her first granddaughter, Aubrey Bernice, was born.

On Friday, August 30, 2024, surrounded by her family, Crystal began her journey to the spirit world at the age of 62. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a generous grandmother, a kind sister, and a favorite aunt. Her contagious smile and compassionate heart will be greatly missed.
