Kelly G. Evenson, 73, New Town, ND, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2024 in a Minot hospital.

Kelly Gene Evenson was born December 1, 1950 in Stanley, ND, a son of Roy and Rogene (Pickar) Evenson. He was raised in New Town, graduating from New Town High School in 1968. Kelly furthered his education by attending University of North Dakota, Grand Forks and

Kelly enlisted into the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged and he returned home. He was employed in construction, worked on the family farm and the oil fields. Later in life he worked for the city of New Town until his retirement.

He married Maureen Gay in New Town. They made their life together in New Town.

He enjoyed watching old westerns and playing along with Jeopardy. He looked forward to happy hour with the crew at the Legion. Kelly was a member of the American Legion Post 290. He was a lifetime member of the Viet Nam Veterans of America.

He is survived by his brothers, Ron (Ronalda), John (Joyce), Dennis (Joan), Richard (Mary), Robert (Charlene), Ed (MT) Evenson; sisters, Sheila (Ron), Arliss (Tim), Nell, Corrine (John), Candy (Mike); brother-in-law, Ron; step-children, Tami, Danny, and David; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Kelly was preceded in death by his parents, wife Maureen, sisters Cheryl and Dianne, brother Lance, step-father Howard, and brothers-in-law, Chuck and Steve. A celebration of life service will take place in early September.
