Jolene Luvaas, 75, Minot and formerly of Williston died on Monday, August 5, 2024 in a Minot hospital with her family by her side.
Jolene Marie Pfeifer was born on February 2, 1949 in Harvey, ND to Gerhardt and Lydia (Eisenbeisz) Pfeifer. She was raised and educated in Tioga.
Jolene married Caroll Luvaas on September 25, 1966 at First Lutheran Church in Tioga. They made their home in Washington while Caroll was stationed at Fort Lewis for the US Army. They moved to Williston, ND in 1971 where Jolene was a fulltime wife, mother and homemaker and was employed at various businesses. They moved to Minot in 1989 where Caroll was employed by Fargo Glass and Paint for 22 years. They retired in 2009 and Caroll and Jolene resided in Rapid City, SD in the summer and Mesa, AZ in the winter. They moved back to Minot in 2020 to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren.
Jolene attended services with her family at Bread of Life Lutheran Church – Minot and she was a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion and Elks Lodge Auxiliaries. She especially enjoyed gardening, baking, bowling, canning and spending time with her grandchildren.
Jolene’s loving family includes her husband of 57 years, Caroll; daughters: Donna (Rolan) Bye and their children: Amelia and Aiden Bye and Deanne Luvaas all of Minot; sister: Cynthia Almer of Minot; brothers: Jerry (Kathy) Pfeifer, Peoria, AZ and Tim (Mary) Pfeifer, Dewey, AZ; brother-in-law: Richard Halvorson, McKinney, TX; one niece, nine nephews and numerous cousins.
Jolene was preceded in death by her parents, sister: Janene Halvorson, nephew: Bryan Halvorson; brothers: Jeff and Rodney Pfeifer; in-laws: Melvin and Lillian Luvaas and sister-in-law: Caroline Kannianen Smith.
Celebration of the Life of Jolene Luvaas: Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in Bread of Life Lutheran Church – Minot. A livestream of the service may be accessed by using the link in the website obituary.
Interment will be at a later date. Visitation: Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home – Minot. Memorials are preferred to Bread of Life Lutheran Church – Minot or the International Peace Garden.
