Jeffrey Loraas, 61, Minot, formerly of Velva, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at a Minot hospital.

Jeffrey was born on November 5, 1962 in Moorhead, MN to James and Winefred (Bohner) Loraas. He was raised and educated in Velva, graduating from Minot High School in 1982. After graduation, Jeffrey moved to Minot and began working at the Minot Vocational Workshop shortly thereafter. On November 7, 1992, Jeffrey was united in marriage to Barbara Meckle. From this union came two sons, Jason and Chad. The couple later divorced.

Jeffrey was a very loving and proud father. He had a huge heart and was very giving to anyone who was in need. Jeffrey loved NASCAR and particularly both Dale Earnhardt and later Dale Earnhardt, Jr. He also enjoyed watching pro wrestling, collecting tools, and taking drives in the countryside. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Jeffrey is survived by his son, Chad Loraas; a sister, Mary Loraas; and a close family friend, Susan Axness. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Winefred Loraas; son, Jason Loraas; brother, Mark Loraas; and both sets of grandparents.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home in Minot. The service will be livestreamed for the public to view and can be accessed by going to the Thompson-Larson Funeral home website: www.thompsonlarson.com. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Minot. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 9, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home in Minot.
