Ernest O. Lehman

Ernest O. Lehman—-86, Kenmare, ND, formerly of Coulee, ND, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024 in a Minot hospital.

Ernest Oscar Lehman was born on March 25, 1938, a son of Oscar and Florence B. (Gustavson) Lehman on the Lehman family homestead near Coulee, ND. He was raised on the family farm, and attended Baden Township Country School, Coulee School and the Dakota Lutheran School. In 1956, Ernest graduated from Donnybrook High School.

On June 21, 1956, Ernest was united in marriage to Patricia Nelson at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Kenmare, ND. They made their home on the Lehman family farm near Coulee, ND, where they farmed, ranched, and raised their three children, Pam, Kathy “Sis” and Kent “Sonny.” In addition to farming, Ernest also owned and operated Lehman Trucking Company, specializing in hauling coal and grain. In 1972, they moved off the farm, but he remained active, still running the combine during harvest well into his 80’s.

Ernest was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Coulee Elevator Board, Baden Township Board and the Kenmare Township Board. He enjoyed working, but was known to ride his Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic, and later his Tri-Glide, he attended the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally for 38 years in a row. He was a loving husband, dad, grandpa and friend and will be missed by all that knew him.

Ernest is survived by:

Wife of 65 years, Pat;

Children: Pam (Clyde) Norris, Kathy (Frank) Anderson, Sonny (Aimee) Lehman;

seven grandchildren: Travis Skar, Eric (Amy) Anderson, Josh Lehman, Danny (Danielle) Anderson, TJ (Steph) Skar, Leah (Nate) Kunde, Tyler (Stephany) Anderson;

sixteen great-grandchildren: Clay, Carson, Eli, Ayla, Emet, Anly, Rowen, Renner, Wyatt, Hannah, Cru, Croix, Colt, Cameron, Oakleigh and Beckem.

Brother: Leonard (Sharon) Lehman;

Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Elaine.

Visitation: Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Kenmare, ND

Graveside Service: Friday, July 12, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Falk Family Cemetery, Coulee, ND. Directions to the cemetery are From Coulee, drive 3 miles West on Highway 50 then 1 mile North.
