Bonny Corrine Teigen, 87, died at the Heartland Care Center in Devils Lake in the early hours of Monday, July 29, 2024.

Bonny was born in Rugby on March 5, 1937 to Bennie and Cora (Sand) Gunderson. She grew up in Rugby and graduated from Rugby High School in 1955. Bonny obtained a standard teacher’s certificate from Minot State Teachers College and was the last teacher at the Christenson Township School south of Rugby. She married Curtis LaVerne Teigen in Rugby on August 18, 1957. They lived in Fargo for a short time and also lived in Rolette for 4 years. They returned to Rugby and farmed in Christenson Township for a few years. Bonny worked at the Rugby Veterinary Clinic in the office and as a vet tech, assisting Dr. Molesworth. In 1992 she opened a business called Cottage Gift Shop until she retired in 2002. In later years, she and Curt enjoyed spending time at a residence they had in Sentinel Butte, North Dakota. Curt died on April 21, 2018.

She was an active member of First Lutheran Church and its quilting group in addition to the Rugby Chamber of Commerce. Bonny enjoyed music and playing the piano for church services.

She is survived by their two sons, David and his wife, Madeleine Teigen – Sacramento, California, and Curt, Jr. and his wife Shannon Teigen – Devils Lake. She also leaves 6 grandchildren, Shelby, Kaelyn, Jackson, Lindsey, Ryan and Andrew. Bonny was preceded in death by her husband, and their daughter, Tanis in 1992 and a brother, Henry in 1987.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, August 5th at First Lutheran Church in Rugby. She will join her husband and daughter at Persilla Watts Cemetery following the funeral service.
