Thomas Delano Harmon

Thomas Delano Harmon, age 84, of Minneapolis, MN, died peacefully on June 10, 2024.

Thomas was born on May 9, 1940 to Thomas and Alta Harmon in Minot, ND. He attended DeLaSalle High School in Minneapolis. On October 1 of 1960, Tom married Sue Carlson at St. Peter’s church in Richfield, MN. He graduated from Metro State University and later from Willam Mitchell College of law. He spent the latter part of his career practicing law after having worked 30+ years with Honeywell.

During his Honeywell years, he also spent evenings and weekends as a sports writer covering high school sports for the Sun Current and later authoring a book about his upbringing in the Catholic school system.

Tom enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, reading and travelling with his wife Sue. Two of his favorite places to visit were San Francisco and Bayfield, WI. He was an avid collector of books, especially biographies. He was very proud of his grandchildren and loved attending their sports and arts events.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Sue. He is survived by son Tom (Laura), son Mike (Susan); grandchildren Nathan Harmon, Andrew Harmon and Katie Harmon; and siblings Barbara (Ken), Paul (Julie) and Bill.

The family would like to extend special thanks to everyone at Homewatch Caregivers, Jones-Harrison Senior Living and Grace Hospice for the caring support they provided Tom the past 2 years.

A service will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Lakewood Cemetery Memorial Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55408. Visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Please join the family after the service for a reception in the Lakewood Cemetery Garden Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers please honor Tom by donating to the Alzheimer’s Association or Grace Hospice of Minneapolis.
