Donna Mae Elgie, 94, Minot, ND, passed away Friday, June 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving family at her home in The View.

She was born December 23, 1929, to Clarence and Myrtle Stalwick. Her childhood was spent in Minot where she was raised and educated, graduating from Minot High School in 1947.

After graduation, she was employed at Saunder’s Drug Store and the First National Bank in Minot. It was during this time she met and married Vencile “Vence” Elgie on August 21, 1953. From this union, they were blessed with three children, Karen, Michael “Mike” and Debra. Donna was a stay-at-home mother until 1969. She then went to work at Sunnyside Elementary School as the school secretary where she enjoyed her job and made many lifelong friends. Donna retired in 1991.

Donna and Vence were married for 56 years until Vence’s passing on October 14, 2009. She was always there to support Vence in all aspects of his life, whether it be his career or just growing old together.

Donna especially enjoyed watching her son and grandsons participate in many sports. She affectionately called her grandsons “my four boys” and was very proud of them and their accomplishments.

Donna was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church of Minot where she was a former member of the choir, Ladies Aide, and Mother’s Club. While her children were in school, she was active in PTA, Cub Scouts, and Brownies. Also, while employed at Sunnyside she was awarded a lifetime membership to the PTA.

Her loving family includes: daughters, Karen Morkve, Deb (Jerry) Oberholtzer; daughter-in-law, Tammy Elgie; six grandchildren, Jeff (Meg) Oberholtzer, Dan (Rachel) Oberholtzer, Zac (Liz) Elgie, Luke (Katie) Elgie, Lindsey (Brian) Rudolph, and Melissa Bjornson; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Ardell Boyeff; and many nieces, nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vence; son, Mike; parents, Clarence and Myrtle Stalwick; brother, Robert Stalwick; sister and brother-in-law, Eileen and John Collins, and brother-in-law, Leonard Boyeff.

Funeral: Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials: are preferred to the Vence Elgie Athletic Scholarship Endowment at Minot State University.
