Cheryl “Val” Besserud, 73, Minot, ND, formerly of Turtle Lake, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2024, at Trinity Nursing Home.

Cheryl Valerie Britton was born September 14, 1950, the daughter of Edgar and Sylvia (Grabinger) Britton, in Fargo, North Dakota. She was raised and educated in Turtle Lake graduating from Turtle Lake High School. Following high school she attended college for a few years.

She married Robert Besserud on February 14, 1984. They made their home in Minot. She worked at Reliastar before switching over to ING, where she stayed until her retirement.

Val was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Turtle Lake. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, camping, and relaxing on the patio reading. She liked to grill and have company over. She loved animals, especially her dog, Ellie, and her cat, Autumn.

Her loving family includes: husband of 40 years, Robert; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Sharon Weible.

Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, Turtle Lake.

Interment: Turtle Lake Cemetery, Turtle Lake, ND.

Visitation: Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
