Allie Albert Deaver
Aug. 29, 1935-June 23, 2024
Berthold
Allie Albert Deaver, 88, Berthold, ND, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2024, at his home
surrounded by his loving family.
Allie was born in Berthold on August 29, 1935, to Earl F. and Olive B. (Hawes) Deaver. He was
raised with his 5 siblings on the family farm south of Berthold and attended Berthold Public
School graduating in 1953.
Allie married Frances L. Van Buskirk on December 2, 1956, and together they raised four
children. They moved to WA for a short time and then lived in several communities in MT and
ND while Allie was employed with Sweetheart Bakery. In 1969, the family moved to Minot and
the couple operated the Tastee-Freez restaurant. They sold the restaurant a few years later, and Allie worked at several different jobs including truck driving, heavy equipment operation, and snow removal at the Minot Air Base. A large part of his career was as the owner-operator of
Deaver’s Dragline Service. He started farming south of Berthold in 1982. Allie enjoyed reading
and often used that knowledge at Trivia Night. For many years Allie attended the Minot
Congregational UCC and was a singer in the choir. He loved dancing with several local and
nearby Square and Round Dance clubs and was a member of the Minot Eagles. He and
Frances divorced in 1999.
Allie returned to Berthold and helped his nephew with farming operations. For many winters, he
would travel to Arizona or other destinations at times visiting his son and family in Virginia. Allie
enjoyed traveling and visited many locations in the US and overseas. He maintained his love of
dancing and outdoor adventures while wintering in Arizona. While in Berthold, he was often
seen taking walks or riding around town on his golf cart. He joined the Berthold Senior Citizens
Center and looked forward to playing cards and attending luncheon events. In recent years,
Allie attended Zion Lutheran Church in Berthold. He was a faithful man and devoted father and
will be missed by all blessed to know him.
We would like to express our gratitude to family and friends who provided comfort and support
during the past months and for the compassionate care provided by Trinity Hospice.
Allie is survived by: children, Lynette Deaver with partner Larry Hanson, Shawn Deaver, all of
Minot, and Lance Deaver (Sharon), Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Corbin Deaver,
Lexington Park, MD, and Bailey Deaver, Virginia Beach, VA; sister, Mildred Haugen, Williston,
ND; sister-in-law, Judy Deaver, Minot; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Deaver, and Marilyn Deaver; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
