Minot
Vivian “Vi” Haas, 90, Minot, ND, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living, Minot.
Vivian Viviett Brenneise was born June 27, 1933, the daughter of Ed and Martha (Gable) Brenneise, in Streeter, ND. She was raised and educated in Streeter, graduating high school in 1952. Following graduation, she attended college for eight weeks to become a teacher. She taught at a country school for one year before she married the love of her life.
She married Ed Haas on May 10, 1953, at the Streeter Baptist Church in Streeter, ND. At the time, Ed was enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and was stationed in California for four months before returning to Streeter to farm from 1953 to 1961. After their time in Streeter, they moved to Bismarck, where their daughters, Wanda (1954) and Cindy (1955) were born. They lived in Bismarck for two years, and then moved to Minot, ND, which became their forever home. Ed passed away July 19, 2002.
Vivian worked at a dry cleaner and then JC Penny. She retired after 25 years of working at JC Penny. After her retirement, she babysat her grandkids. Her pride and joy were her grandkids and great-grandkids. She always took great pride in being able to attend and watch their sporting and special events. It wasn’t uncommon to see and hear her coaching the TV screen while watching her two favorite sports teams, the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins. It was rare that she missed watching a game.
She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Minot, where she was involved in the Ladies Circle.
Her loving family includes:
daughters, Wanda (James) Aspaas, Minot, Cindy (Terry) Myers, Aberdeen, SD; six grandchildren, Rebecca Jo (fiancée, Kevin Watson) Aspaas, Jennifer (Michael) Crisp, Kelsey (Michael) Hilker, Christopher Myers, Shawn (Bailey) Myers, and Kayla Myers; ten great-grandchildren, Kolee Jo, Tayten, Brekkyn, Noah, Aspyn, Emma, Luke, Damian (Emma-Leah Burrage), Myah, Levi, and another little girl due in July; brothers, Harlyn (Annie) Brenneise, Clarence Brenneise, and sister, Carol Shaub; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 49 years, Eddie; grandparents, and sister-in-law, Marion Brenneise.
We will forever cherish the memories you gave us all, but are at peace knowing you are now reunited with your love, Eddie, and our heavenly Father.
Our family will forever hold a special place in our hearts for the Edgewood Vista and Hospice staff. The love and care you gave our mom and grandma were never left unnoticed. Bless you!
