Robert “Bob” Cogdill

Robert Eugene Cogdill was born on April 1, 1948, a son of Clarence and Gwendolyn (Sipes) Cogdill, in Minot, ND. He was raised on the family farm with his older brother Larry and younger siblings, Brad and Patty, where he loved riding horses and learned the value of hard work. Bob attended school in Burlington and later in Des Lacs, graduating in 1967.

On July 16, 1968, Bob enlisted in the United States Navy. He proudly served his country as a medic during the Vietnam Conflict. He was honorably discharged on June 29, 1972. During his deployment, the family welcomed a much younger sister, Lisa, whom he first met when she was almost one year old.

Bob was united in marriage to Geraldine Daniel at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot, on April 27, 1974. They made their home in Burlington, ND, where together they raised their three children Laura, Heather, and Joshua.

In 1982, Bob co-founded Aggregate Construction, Inc., a rock-crushing business. His hard work and dedication helped build the company, and in 2008 he became the sole owner. Bob had a unique talent for crushing rocks and building lasting business relationships.

Bob had a passion for old, fast cars, he enjoyed spending time at the lake with his grandkids and watching racing both in person and on TV. Known for his handiness and ability to fix almost anything, Bob instilled in his kids the importance of hard work and independence. He was a man of great integrity with a strong work ethic, qualities that have left a lasting mark on all who knew him.

Bob’s memory will be cherished by his family and friends. He will be remembered for his dedication, loyalty to his family, and unwavering integrity.

Bob is survived by:

children, Laura (Todd) Nelson of Towner, Heather (Benjamin) Opland of Burlington, ND, Joshua (Amy) Cogdill of Burlington, ND; Grandchildren, Claire and Karly Nelson; Charlie, Audrey, and Kate Opland; Delila and Harrison Cogdill:

siblings: Brad (Lois) Cogdill, Patty Cogdill, and Lisa (Jim) Walker;

in-laws: Nancy Cogdill, Karen (Hollis) Farber, Keith (Rhonda) Daniel;

several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife Geri, brother Larry and his in-laws Art and Avis Daniel.

Visitation: Friday, May 24, 2024 from 4 until 6 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Graveside service with military honors: Following the Liturgy service at Rolling Green Cemetery, Des Lacs, ND

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be given to donors choice.
