Robert Alm, 73, Surrey, ND, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Trinity Hospital.

Bob was born May 13, 1951, the son of Erling and Marilynn (Orheim) Alm, in Minot, ND.

Bob spent the summers of his youth with family at Kenosee Lake, Saskatchewan, where he made lots of lifelong friends.

Bob enlisted in the United States Army in 1970. He proudly served his country in South Korea. He was honorably discharged. Bob studied Martial Arts and Taekwondo when he was in Korea and became near to a black belt before being discharged.

After the Army he briefly attended NDSU for Construction, but was needed on the job with Orheim Alm Construction, so he moved back to Minot. He later had a small business called Bob’s Candle Shop near Roosevelt Park.

Bob’s passions included fishing and hunting. He was a fine stone Mason and worked with agates and other rocks polishing and preparing for jewelry making by his special companion, Margie Taylor.

Bob enjoyed collecting artifacts and treasures from the past. After retirement he started going to our family home in St Pete Beach Florida, where he loved the sunshine and collecting seashells and artifacts.

His loving family and friends includes:

Sister, Cheri Alm; brother, David Alm; niece, Carly (Brock) Klein, nephew, Albert (Amber) Alm; grandniece, Daysi Alm; grandnephews, Nash and Jack; special companion, Margie Taylor;

and numerous friends all around the country. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Erling and Marilynn Alm; several uncles and aunts.

Memorial Service: Thursday, May 30th, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
