Evelyn Judith (Grove) Anderson. Age 101, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away May 16, 2024.

She was born on March 26, 1923, in Parshall, ND to Christ and Inga Grove.

Evelyn’s life history began with her parent’s voyage from Norway to America, where they settled in North Dakota under the Homestead Act. She grew up with her 5 siblings surrounded by the rich history

of a farming lifestyle. Evelyn cherished her memories of horseback riding and her school days in Parshall, ND.

In 1947 she married Harold J. Anderson and moved to Des Lacs, ND. She raised four sons in the 25 years living in Des Lacs and was active in supporting any sport or event her sons were involved with. She was a wonderful cook which included baking a wide selection of Norwegian pastries. Evelyn was also known for her Cake Decorating.

In 1972 Harold and Evelyn moved to Minot, North Dakota, where they made their home for 10 years. While living in Minot Evelyn liked to be active, which included being an accomplished bowler in the Women’s League at North Hill Bowl.

Eventually they moved to Phoenix, AZ. While living in Phoenix, Evelyn pursued her passion for ballroom dancing. Several times each week she attended ballroom dances with friends.

She is survived by her sons Keith of Phoenix, AZ; Darryl (Margaret) of Clarkston, MI; Doug (Lorie) of Mesa, AZ; and Laurel (Maureen) of Chandler, AZ.

She is also survived by four grandchildren; Eric (Molly) Anderson; Erin (Mitch) Malone; Maren (Tom) Caproni, Ian Anderson, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Harold, great grandson Brayden, and her siblings Myrtes Gjefle, Jewel Grove, Beverlee Johnson, Lloyd Grove and Edythe Rustad.

There will be no memorial service. Online messages of condolence may be sent to Dignity Memorial, Phoenix, AZ. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice of the Valley, Phoenix, AZ, or United Methodist Church, Des Lacs, ND. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley in Phoenix and Mayfair Eden Assisted Living in Mesa for the gentle care they provided Evelyn.

Evelyn will be laid to rest in Rosehill Cemetery, Minot ND.
