Dr. Deborah Hunter

Doctor Deborah J. Hunter, passed away September 24, 2023, after fighting a courageous 26-year battle against cancer.

Debby had a Bachelor of Science from Northern Arizona University, a Bachelor of Chemistry from Mississippi State University and received her Doctorate in Philosophy/Biology from the University of Utah. Debby also had a two-year National Institute of Health Post-Doctoral Fellowship.

Debby was a US Army veteran and received the Meritorious Service Medal for outstanding performance as a Biological Research Assistant in the Department of Clinical Investigation. Debby was a science instructor at numerous colleges and universities. She was also an environmental specialist in air compliance, emissions and hazardous waste management. She wrote grants and received funding for environmental issues and had been published in numerous science journals. Debby loved the outdoors, animals and collecting books.

She is survived by her son Kelly Hunter, sisters Tricia Hunter and Allison Powell and brother Kim Hunter; aunts Darlene Peters, Beverly Aper, Linda Krupa, Sandra Speerstra and uncles Vern Hunter and Bud Tryhus.

The burial service will be held on June 1st, at 2:30 p.m. at the old Trinity Lutheran Church and Cemetery, 9999 37th St. NE., Minot. A celebration of life will be held afterward at the Minot Moose Club at 4:30 p.m.
