Caye Marie (Mitzel) Bednarz, the daughter of Andrew âAndyã and Marie (DesForges) Mitzel was born on March 31, 1950, in Devils Lake, ND. She died at the age of 74 years on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey, ND. Caye was raised in Leeds, graduated from high school in 1968, received her teaching degree from UND and taught Special Education in Rugby. In June of 1985, Caye was united in marriage to David Bednarz in Rugby. Caye is survived by her loving husband, Dave; her son Aaron Ferg of Florida; daughter, Alyssa (Alex) Joppru of Rugby; stepson, Brent Bednarz of South Dakota; 7 grandchildren, Asher and Andee Joppru, Kaden and Kate Jaeger, Mallory, Chace and Seth Bednarz; siblings, Mark (Vickie) Mitzel of Waco, Texas, and Teri (Rob) Nicklay of Casselton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary, vigil prayer service and sharing of memories beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
