Betty Ahern, 86, South Bend, IN, formerly of Minot, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024, in her home.

Betty Lee Wade was born on December 16, 1937, in Torrington, WY to Jesse and Goldie (Mathes) Wade. As a little girl, she moved with her parents to Bryton, OR, where she was raised and educated while her father worked as a lumberjack.

In 1964, Betty moved to Everett, WA where she met Terrence “Terry” Ahern. The couple were married on July 19, 1965 in Yakima, WA. In 1980, the couple moved to Minot, where they resided until Terry’s death in 2019. Betty moved to South Bend, IN, in August of 2019 to be with her daughter, Brenda.

Betty loved being a mother and homemaker. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and cross stitching and always gave away anything she made. She was an avid reader, her favorite authors were James Patterson, Michael Connelly and many more, she always had a book in her hand if she wasn’t working on a craft. She was a former member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Minot.

Her loving family includes: son, Richard (Donna) Wade; daughter, Brenda (Rob) Martens; three grandchildren, Jeffery (Reda) Johnson, Angela (Randy) Richards, and Kristina (Alex) Smith; nine great-grandchildren, Savanna, JR, Jonathan, Nathan, Noah, Miranda, Donovan, Ian, Haidon; one great-great-grandchild, Adryan; seven sisters; one brother; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 53 years, Terrence; her brother, Tom; and her sisters, Effie, Bonita, and Ellen.

Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, May 10, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.

Interment: Wildrose Cemetery, Berthold, ND.
