Alvin Beck, 86, Minot, died peacefully Saturday, May 18, 2024, in his home under the care of hospice with family at his side.
Alvin was born on September 4, 1937 in Minot to Emanuel and Katherine (Heizelman) Beck. He was raised and educated in Minot. Alvin enlisted in the ND Army National Guard and he served one year of active duty prior to his honorable discharge.
Alvin married Claire Layman on April 4, 1964 at the Mennonite Brethren Church in Minot. They made their home in Minot and Sawyer. Alvin was a forty-six year employee of the Minot Daily News.
He especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Alvin’s loving family includes his wife of 60 years: Claire; daughters: Carrie (Daryl) Heizelman and Sheila (Frank) Jacobs all of Minot and Shirley (Cody) Hartung, Surrey; 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and nephew, Mark (Delrae) Pope, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters.
Celebration of the Life: June 1, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Minot. A livestream of the service may be viewed by using the link in the website obituary.
Visitation: Friday May 31, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
