Muriel Brandt, 92, Minot, formerly of Maxbass, ND, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 in a Minot Hospital surrounded by her family.

Muriel was born February 10, 1932 at Eckman, ND a twin daughter and one of ten children to August and Clara (Shong) Ehlke. She was raised and educated at Eckman. She received her first accordion at the age of 13 and taught herself to play. Muriel was united in marriage to Glenn “Bud” Brandt on November 7, 1949 at Minot.

Muriel and Glenn lived at Upham for four years, then moved to Lakota for a short time prior to returning to the farm near Maxbass. They raised their three children and farmed throughout the years. Muriel was more than willing to do whatever was needed as a farm wife, from driving grain truck to feeding workers in the field. In addition, she painted and did wall papering for others. She loved decorating homes for others and decorating her home for all the holidays.

Glenn and Muriel retired from farming in the late 1980’s and moved to Minot. They would spend the summer months at their cabin at Lake Metigoshe. She was a former member of the English Lutheran Church, Maxbass. She enjoyed cooking, baking goodies, making dolls, crocheting and sewing. Her husband, Bud died on June 19, 2006.

Her loving family includes: sons, Rodney (Bonnie), Maxbass, Randy (Deann), Maxbass and Russell (Elizabeth) Center Point, IA; 11 grandchildren to include: Jeremy (Heather) Brandt, Jennifer (Kory) Nelson, Jessica (Rafal) Konik, Jacob (Jillian) Brandt, Andrea (Eric) Bowman, Joshua (Jenna) Brandt, Elizabeth (Dallas) Enos, Dustin (Hadlee) Brandt, Brittany Brandt, Marissa Brandt and Brayton (Miranda) Brandt; 22 great grandchildren; twin sister, Marion Mettler, Anoka, MN; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Muriel was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 56 years, Bud; sisters, June Skin, Evelyn Zurcher, Ardella Weibee, Vivian Wenzel, Arleen McKechnie; brothers, Laverne, Floyd and Leon.

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.

Visitation: Friday, April 26th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot
