Jerome Kvamme, 89, Minot, died Saturday, April 6, 2024 in his home.

Jerome Ernest Kvamme was born on February 7, 1935, a son of Ernest and Agnes (Chilson) Kvamme near Falkirk, ND. He was raised and educated in the Bergen area, graduating from Bergen High School in 1953. Jerome furthered his education by attending the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND.

On February 15, 1958, Jerome was united in marriage to Dorothy Leier in Balfour, ND. They made their home in the Bergen area, where they raised their three children, Kimberly, Timothy and Jeffrey. Together the family milked cows for a time, raised cattle, sheep, goats and always had horses on the farm. Jerome loved his years on the farm with his family. He was also very active with his children’s activities that included horse shows, 4-H events, trail rides, and cattle shows. They retired from farming in 1994, when they moved to Minot. While in Minot, Jerome and Dorothy managed an apartment building from IMM, and he drove taxi, transported railroad personnel, and owned and managed J & J Mini Storage. Dorothy passed away on July 27, 2004. He continued to live in Minot.

Jerome was a member of Oak Valley Lutheran Church in Velva, ND. He also served on the Odin and Voltaire Township Boards, ABS Breeders Association Board, and Cenex Board. He was an avid collector of toy farm equipment and had a special collection of John Deere pieces.

During his childhood, he spent many years at the Shriners Hospital in Chicago. His fondest memory from that time was when he had his picture taken with Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMagio. Jerry was a very outgoing man and seemed to make new acquaintances and friends wherever he went. He especially enjoyed going to Kroll’s Diner for breakfast. He will be deeply missed.

Children: Kimberly (William) Bodine, Timothy (Teri) Kvamme and Jeffery (Jona) Kvamme; ten grandchildren: Casey (Lacy Degele) Kvamme, Matthew (Sandra Selberg) Kvamme, Ashley (Preston) Bauer, Ethan (Taylor) Mattingley, Candyce (Eric) Peters, Kylie (Jared) Adams, Keenan (Mariah Dietrich) Kvamme, Kaulder Kvamme, Kambree Kvamme, Kirra Kvamme; special friend Karen Burke; thirteen great-grandchildren: Hailee Kvamme, Ashlyn Degele, Ryah Kvamme, Taiten Kvamme, Bennett Bauer, Easton Bauer, Beau Bauer, Brody Mattingley, Avery Mattingley, Lakyn Mattingly, Nellie Hendrickson, Iyla Peters and Vaida Peters; siblings: JoAnne Sorenson, Annette (Donovan) Feist, Janice Federenko; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Jerome was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 46 years Dorothy, and brothers-in-law Richard Sorenson and Virgil Federenko.
