Isaac Matthew Louis

Dec. 13, 2014-March 23, 2024

Voltaire

Isaac Matthew Louis, 9, son of Samantha Lauf, Minot, ND, and Matthew Louis, Voltaire, ND passed away peacefully Saturday, March 23, 2024, in Fargo Children’s Hospital surrounded by his family after a courageous 8-month battle with brain cancer.

Isaac Matthew was born on December 13, 2014, in Bismarck, North Dakota to Samantha J. Wise and Matthew C. Louis. He lived in Minot and Voltaire and attended elementary school in Burlington and South Prairie, where he was currently a third grader in Mrs. Pederson’s class. He always loved school and all of his classmates.

Isaac was all boy and was up for any adventure. Hunting for geese and fishing trips with dad to catch big pike often filled weekends with memories. When asked about bluegill fishing, Isaac would often tell people, “I showed daddy how that’s done!” Playing basketball and baseball games filled many afternoons and evenings on the family calendar. Minecraft, Fortnite, Deep Rock Galactic, and Spiderman were staples of his gaming universe and who could forget the dirt bike he rode at full speed up and down the alley. Isaac wanted to be a drummer and was inspired to do so by one of his father’s closest friends, Eugene Kern. He was a collector of Pokémon cards, a talented golfer, and will always be ‘Brother Bear’ and ‘Nugget Man’ to his sisters.

Isaac loved unconditionally and was loved in return by everyone he met, often reeling them in with his smile that came so naturally, even on the hard days. He touched too many people to count through the diagnosis that he faced so bravely every single day. He will forever be our champion!
