Darrell “Dude” H. Falcon, 73, Minot, formerly of Trenton, ND, died unexpectedly Sunday, April 14, 2024 in a Minot Hospital surrounded by his family from complications of a fall.

Darrell was born on June 5, 1950 at Williston, ND, the son of Finley and Blanche (Allard) Falcon. He was raised and educated at Trenton and graduated from Trenton High School in 1968. He was drafted into the U.S. Army on March 4, 1970 and honorably served in Vietnam, Battery C 7th Battalion 15th Field Artillery, for 13 months. He was proud to have served his country and had received numerous commendations, including: the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon, Gallantry Cross Medal with Palm decal & Sharpshooter Badge with Auto Rifle Bar.

Darrell was united in marriage to Donna Marie Duffey on August 21, 1970. Upon completion of his military service, he and Donna made their home in Minot. He then worked for Monarch Concrete & Wilbert Vault Company for 13 years. He then became employed with the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier in 1984, serving for over 31 years until he retired in 2015.

In High School, Darrell competed in basketball, baseball and track. In his adult years, he bowled, participated in basketball, softball, golf and played pool. He enjoyed following his children and grandchildren’s activities and was extremely proud of their accomplishments. He sincerely loved the pet family members who were part of his family’s household over the years.

His loving family and friends includes: his wife of 53 years, Donna; sons, Bobby (Kara) of Rochester, MN; Christopher (BettyGene) and Joshua Falcon, both of Minot; 4 grandchildren: Ethan, Kacey, Avery and Tayler; siblings, Darlyne (Ron) Pederson, Ronald “Stretch” (Betty Jo) Falcon, Carol (Earl) Mann, Hal (Anita) Falcon and Bev (Tom) Peterson; 3 brothers in law and a sister in law; many of nieces, nephews and cousins; his bingo friends at Aces, golf buddies and pool teammates.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Vincent; niece Kim Mann and nephew & godson Merrit Falcon; his sister-in-law, JoAnne Erickson, his father and mother-in-law, Ed & Joyce Duffey and close cousin, Miles Allard, Sr.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service in the church.

Interment: Friday, April 19th at 1:00 p.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan.
