Dale LeRoy Graff, 84, Carpio, ND, longtime area rancher, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024.

Dale LeRoy Graff was born at home on July 16, 1939 in Donnybrook, North Dakota, to Burton and Gladys (Rose) Graff. He grew up on a farm near Carpio and graduated from Carpio Public School in 1958.

Following his graduation, Dale joined the U.S. Army Reserve and was honorably discharged after six years.

On June 1, 1963, Dale married Carolyn Louise Johnson at Carpio Lutheran Church.

From 1959 until 1984 Dale worked full-time for various businesses; including Don Moe Dodge, Motor Service, Neshem Construction, and Farmers Union Elevator in Carpio. Additionally he farmed with his dad and raised purebred Arabian horses and registered Hereford cattle.

In 1984, after the death of his father, Dale became a full-time rancher and farmer until his semi-retirement in 2004. Even after his official retirement, Dale continued to tend to his cattle, spray spurge, mend fences, and perform general farm upkeep until his death.

He was a member of the North Dakota Hereford Association, the Western North Dakota Arabian Horse Association, the American Legion Post #195, and the Moose Lodge #822 in Minot.

Dale is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn; daughters, Michell (Amy) Graff, Belfair, Washington, Lori Graff, Waukee, Iowa, Roxanne (Naveen) Murthy, Rochester, Minnesota; Joleen (Marty) Kastens, Lincoln, Nebraska, and Rhonda (Jeff) Herman, Chelsea, Michigan; 16 grandchildren; sisters, Marlene (Archie) Kleven, Gayle Graff, and Nicki (Frank) Shelkey; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Adam Menze.

Visitation: Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio, North Dakota.

Funeral Service: Monday, April 15, 2024, 10:00 a.m. at Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio, North Dakota. Burial: Monday, April 15, 2024, 3:00 p.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, North Dakota.

Memorials may be given in Dale’s honor to the Carpio Fire Department or an organization of Donor’s choice.
