Curtis Gessner, 67, Newburg, ND, passed away Friday, March 1, 2024, in his home.

Curtis DeWayne Gessner was born June 3, 1956, the son of Cecil and Delores (Moldenhauer) Gessner, in Bottineau, ND. He was raised and educated in Newburg, graduating from Newburg United High School in 1974. After graduation he attended Minot State University.

Curt began farming on his own for a time and also worked for Bud Gessner. He then began his long career working with Cenex of Newburg as a bulk fuel driver. After his many years of employment he retired from trucking in August of 2022.

He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Curt spent many summers helping his children prepare their animals for 4-h. He was always very proud of their accomplishments. As his children grew older he continued to be involved as much as he could. He enjoyed going to the races with Makayla. Also enjoyed deer hunting and ice fishing with his boys and granddaughters.

Curt was known as Curtison Beans to his granddaughters who loved to joke with him every chance they got!

His loving family includes:

children, Nolan (Michelle) Gessner, Griffin (Nicole) Gessner, Makayla (Michael Daley) Gessner; grandchildren, Lilly, Liv, Lainey, Garret; mother Delores Gessner; brothers, Brian (Melanie) Gessner, Doug (Kathleen) Gessner, Royce Gessner; sister Cheryl Gessner; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Curt was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral: Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Newburg.

Interment: St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Newburg, ND.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service.
