Grand Forks

Norine Elaine Sletto, 92, of Grand Forks, ND (and formerly of Willow City, ND) passed away on February 15, 2024, at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Her funeral will be held on February 19, 2024, at 10:30 am at First Lutheran Church, Willow City, North Dakota. Visitation will be Sunday starting at 3:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Burial will take place at a later date at Willow Creek Cemetery, Overly, North Dakota.

Norine was born March 11th, 1931 in Bottineau, ND to Edna (Foth) and Erick Biberdorf. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Willow City, ND. Norine grew up and graduated from Willow City Public School in Willow City, ND. After graduating from high school in 1949 she attended Minot State Teachers College earning her teaching certificate. In 1950, she met the love of her life, Glenn. They married in 1952, and resided on a farm in Overly, ND and later moved to Willow City. In 2011, Glenn and Norine moved from Willow City to Parkwood Senior Living in Grand Forks, ND.

After teaching in a rural Willow City country school, she became Glenn’s number-one grain hauler while supporting his true passion, farming in Bottineau and Rolette counties. Upon retirement in 1988, Norine and Glenn spent time in Las Vegas and 16 winters in Earp, California. She also enjoyed summers at Lake Metigoshe, ND, and Killarney, Canada.

Norine was a member and served as president of the First Lutheran Church Ladies Aid in Willow City and a member of the Overly and Willow City Homemakers Clubs. She enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening, canning, and playing bingo, 21, and pinochle.

Norine is survived by her children: Glenda (Paul) Lindseth of Grand Forks, ND; Gregory (Roni) Sletto of Willow City, ND; Vicky (Mike) Meier of Sioux Falls, SD; and Jeffrey (Valerie) Sletto of Blue Eye, MO.

She is also survived by her grandchildren: Bradley (May Britt) Lindseth of Littleton, CO, Ashlea Lindseth of Grand Forks, ND; Brenna (Dustin) Norby of Grand Forks, ND; Michael (Amber) Meier, Harrisburg, SD; and Gabriel Meier of Watertown, SD; Valesha Wilson of Rogersville, MO; Jenney (Joe) Myler of Nixa, MO; and Jeff, Jr. (Lonna) Sletto of Nixa, MO; and great-grandchildren, Daniel and Ingrid Lindseth; Oliver Meier; Johnny, Andy and Tori Wilson; and Alyvia and Isabella Myler; Maddax Sletto; Amelia and Nylah Norby, Xavier Sletto, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Norine is survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Sletto of Bottineau, ND. Norine was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Sletto, her parents, Erick, and Edna Biberdorf; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Andrew & Betsy Sletto; brother, Norman Biberdorf; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Biberdorf, Emily Biberdorf, and Cindy Biberdorf; and brother-in-law, Alton Sletto; and grandson, Greyson Sletto.

Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church of Willow City or as Families wish.
