ANTLER – Nina Lou Koons, 81, of Antler, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2024, at a Minot care facility.

She was born Feb. 25, 1943, in Minot, to Erling and Myrt (Kissner) Tennyson. She was raised and attended school in Antler.

Nina married Sherman “Sonny” Koons on Oct. 18, 1958, at the Renville County Court House. They lived in Westhope, later in Montana, then returned to Antler. Nina sold Avon for 10 years and also worked at United Pantry in Minot. She loved her role as a farmer’s wife. Sonny died Dec. 19, 2006.

Nina was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church, rural Antler.

Family: children, Denise Carnduff, Mohall; Wayne (Sheri) Koons, Antler; grandchildren, Shawn (Rachael) VanDyke, Minot, Josh (Ashley) VanDyke, Sioux Falls, S.D., Dustin Koons, Antler, Ryan (Nicole) Koons, Langdon, and Cole (Sam) Koons, Antler; great-grandchildren, Haley and Hayden VanDyke, Keegan VanDyke, Chloe, Brynlee, Oakley and Keaton Koons, Easton, Tinslie, Archie and Hoyt Koons.

Nina was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; daughter-in-law, Wendy Koons; son-in-law, Dick Carnduff; sisters, Bette Larson and Charlotte Atwood.

Funeral: 2 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church, rural Antler.

Burial: Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church Cemetery, rural Antler.

Family Service: 11 a.m., Saturday at the church.
