James Lemer

Anamoose

James Benjamin Lemer, 82, rural Anamoose, ND died on Sunday, February 25, 2024 at the St. Aloisius Hospital in Harvey. Funeral services will be at 10:30 Saturday, March 2, 2024 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Anamoose with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Rosary and Prayer Service at 8 p.m. at the church.

James was born on June 18, 1941, on the family farm north of Anamoose, ND. He grew up there and attended Lake View Country School # 3 and graduated from Anamoose High School in 1961. He joined the Navy in 1961 and was honorably discharged later that year. James returned to the family farm and helped with the farming operation. He worked road construction for William Collins and Zimmerman Construction, retiring in 2003. He spent his retirement years living with his brother Clarence on the Lemer farm. He enjoyed playing cards and hunting.

James was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Anamoose and a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council in Drake and the American Legion Post in Drake.

James is survived by his brothers, Clarence, and Allen Lemer both of Anamoose, Eugene of Valley City; sisters, Eileen Bjorland of Harvey and Diane Lemer of Bismarck. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, June Lemer and Frances Lageson. Arrangements with Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey, ND.
