Irene G. Knutson, 77, Carpio, ND, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024 in her home.

Irene Genevive Schlussler was born on July 23, 1946, a daughter of James and Louise (Colburn) Schlussler in St. Paul, MN. She was raised and educated in St Paul, MN, where she graduated from high school in 1964.

In December of 1965, Irene was united in marriage to Everett Howard. On November 11, 1966 a daughter Laura was born and on October 16, 1967, son Jim was born. They later divorced. Irene and family moved to Berthold, ND, where she worked at Larry’s Meat Market, she babysat, and cleaned for many of her neighbors. She later moved to Kenmare where she worked as a caregiver.

On July 3, 1997, Irene was united in marriage to Arnold Knutson. They made their home in Donnybrook, ND. Where together they enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, gambling, crafting, specializing in cross-stitch, handy-work and painting.

Irene was a member of the Clarence McCormack 195 auxiliary.

Irene is survived by her children, James Howard and Laura (Mike) Brock; grandchildren, Russel Marmon, Courtney Kaas, Kaylynn Howard, Thomas Howard, Jeremy (Ekam) Smith, Jon (Melissa) Haman; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Carol (Joe) Ravinski, Debbie (James) Preston; step-children, Calvin (Debbie) Knutson, Todd (Dina) Knutson, Andy Knutson, Jim (Traci) Knutson, Judy (Ken) Sculock; Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arnold, daughter-in-law Cindy Howard, siblings Larry, Rodger, Geraldine, and JoAnn.

Visitation: Friday, February 9, 2024 from 1 until service time at the Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio, ND

Memorial Service: Friday, February 9, 2024 at 2 pm at Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio, ND

Burial: A private family committal will take place at a later date.
