Betty Marie Eaton

July 1, 1930-Feb. 20, 2024

Minot

Betty Marie Eaton, 93, Minot, ND, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024. A promise was made that she would be able to stay in her home surrounded by memories of her husband and best friend, Jock, and die there. That promise was kept.

Betty Marie Arndt was born in Minot on July 1, 1930 to Lloyd and Helen (Walley) Arndt.

She spent almost all her life in Minot. She graduated from Minot High and attended Minot State College. Her college career ended when she married Jonathan Chase Eaton, Jr. “Jock”. The beginning of their marriage was spent in Palo Alto, CA where Jock attended law school at Stanford. Upon his graduation they returned to Minot. Time was divided between their home in northwest Minot and on Jock’s cattle ranch near Denbigh, North Dakota. Weekends and summers were all about the ranch and horses.

Betty rode a lot as a youngster although less and less as she got older but she never lost her love for horses. She was an enthusiastic supporter of her daughter’s and grandson’s interest in horses, always attending the various horse shows they competed in.

Betty and Jock were lucky enough to do some traveling around the country. Their favorite place was New Orleans. They loved the food!

They took two trips to England and Ireland. They eschewed guided tours and struck out on their own. In Ireland they stayed in local hotels, ate in small town pubs, and visited horse and cattle farms. Of course attending horse shows was a must.

Betty is survived by her grandson, William Eaton Mueller; her daughter, Mary Helen Eaton, both of Towner, ND; and her daughter, Elizabeth Ellen Eaton, Miami, AZ.

We pray God has welcomed her into heaven and will send strength and comfort to all who will miss her presence in their lives.

Memorials preferred to St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Towner.
