Vera Broker, 89, Minot, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Trinity Homes.

Vera A. Jones was born March 8, 1934, the daughter of Herbert and Nellie (Paige) Jones, in Bantry, North Dakota. She was the eldest of four sisters, who were Della, Anna Lou, and Ruby.

Vera’s dad and mom owned and ran a grocery/dance hall. This is where she fell in love with dancing. Vera’s sisters and herself would run the concession stand and hand out sloppy joes. Her parents moved the family to the big city, Minot, where Vera attended Minot High School. She worked at Woolworths after school and scooped a lot of ice cream making milkshakes.

After she graduated high school in 1953 Vera married Robert Busch. They made their home on the family farm in Sawyer ND. They were blessed with four daughters, Deborah, Cythnia, Pamela, and Robyn. They later divorced and Vera moved to Minot. Several years later she met and fell in love with John Broker. John and Vera loved to dance and travel together. Vera was incredibly talented at sewing and baking. She loved sharing her crafts at Christmas time by handing out her bake goods to neighbors and friends plus sewing Christmas presents for the family.

Her loving family includes: daughters, Debbie(Mike)Collins of Spanaway, WA, Cindy (Mike) Schmitcke of Minot, ND, Pam (Kent) Wurgler of Minot, ND, Robyn (Thomas) Carr of Aurora, CO; grandchildren, Tara (Dominic) Staeheli, Amber (Brian) Musselman, Shannon Roth, Nicole (Jan) Faydo, Erica Brannin, Christopher (Mercedes) Wurgler, Tanner Wurgler (Rufena Chie), Desiree (Randal II) Los; great-grandchildren, Maria and Michael (AJ) Staeheli, Jake and Hayden Musselman, Tyler and Kadence Hansford, Hunter Roth, Lilith Brannin, Kalia and Carly Parker, Harper and Hudson, Victoria, Kira and Toran Wurgler, Jillian and Randal III Los.

Vera is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Broker; her parents, Herbert and Nellie Jones; sisters, Della Streich-Watson, Anna Lou Thompson, Ruby Limke, and grandchild, Christy Schmitcke.

Funeral: Friday, January 12, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Journey Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service.
