Roger Raymond Paulus, 78, of Drake, ND, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 20, 2024, with Rosary beginning at 10:00 AM at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Drake with Fr. Thomas Graner celebrating. Burial will take place at the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed on the Prairie Pothole Parish Facebook Page. Roger Raymond Paulus was born June 2, 1945, along with his twin sister, Renee, to Frank and Regina (Wiegel) Paulus in Harvey, ND. He was raised in Drake and attended special educational classes at a young age. Roger was baptized and confirmed at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Drake. He furthered his education and attended Hanson’s Welding trade school in Fargo and obtained employment in Fargo and Valley City, ND.

Roger returned to Drake and lived with his parents until their passing. He enjoyed working for Kenny Brunner on the farm, where he was treated like a son. The Bruner’s would let Roger travel with them to California and Canada to watch horse races. Roger also worked in Grand Forks during fall harvest, hauling sugar beets.

Roger loved the outdoors, especially training horses and dogs. He was a very knowledgeable and gifted welder and could make anything out of scrap material. Roger enjoyed assembling model trucks and vehicles, tinkering with his large tool collection and overhauling trucks, tractors or cars. He could get almost any motor running when others would give up.

Roger is survived by his siblings, Patricia (Bob) Richter of Minot, ND, Rick (Carolyn) Paulus of Scottsdale, AZ, Mary Kay (Mike) Tasker of Peachtree City, GA, Frankie Paulus of Moorhead, MN, Irene Berndt of Egan, MN and Jim Paulus of Denhoff, ND; sister-in-laws, JoAn Paulus and Julie Paulus; brother-in-law, Duane Kramer; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Regina Paulus; sister, Renee Kramer; brother, Blaine Paulus; sister-in-law, Marcella Paulus.
