Robert “Bob” D. Olson, 77, Minot, died Wednesday, January 24, 2024 in his home, following a heroic battle with cancer.

Robert Dean Olson was born on April 9, 1946, a son of Lloyd and Margaret (McMaster) Olson in Minot, ND. Bob was raised in the Minot area and graduated from Minot High School in 1964. He furthered his education by attending and graduating from Minot State University.

On May 11, 1967, Bob was enlisted into the United States Army. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam Conflict, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Unit Citation (Vietnam) and the Air Medal W/V Device. He was honorably discharged in October 1, 1968. Following his discharge Bob returned to Minot.

On November 6, 1970, Bob was united in marriage to Joyce Lillemon at the Oak Valley Lutheran Church in Velva. They made their home in Minot, where Bob began working within the oil fiends of ND until 1982. He then began working Civil Service at the Minot Air Force Base until retirement in May of 2009.

Bob was a “jack-of-all trades” and could fix anything. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, and camping.

Bob is survived by: Wife of 53 years, Joyce; siblings: Jim (Polly) Olson, Richard Olson, and Linda Olson-Everson; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and in-laws Cecelia and Marvin Lillemon.

Visitation: Monday, January 29, 2024 from 9:30 until service time at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot
