Barbara Satterthwaite, 103, Minot, ND, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Trinity Homes in Minot.

Barbara Gwendolyn (Wing) Satterthwaite born October 15, 1920 and was raised in Chicago IL. Her parents were Harold and Jessie (Kickland) Wing. She graduated from high school in 1938. She worked for Montgomery Ward in cost accounting. She married Earl Satterthwaite on March 21, 1942. They moved to ND in 1950. They made their home north of New Town. Moving to rural ND from Chicago was a real challenge and there were many changes over the years.

She was a homemaker and ranch wife. She was part of Little Knife Homemakers and Mountrail County Homemakers (served as secretary). She loved sewing, knitting, and crocheting projects. She was very active in her church. She served as a Sunday School teacher, Mission Supporter and Women’s Work. She served ND Baptist Women’s President 1966-68 and as ND Baptist Convention President 1968-70. She was a member Immanuel Baptist Church of Minot ND and First Baptist Church of New Town ND. She also served as Secretary of Lakeside Senior Citizens Center of New Town ND.

Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family, they were a special part of her life. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren were incredibly important to her. She loved sewing, knitting, and crocheting projects.

She is survived by her children, Gary (Sue) Satterthwaite, Marianne (Doug) Bender; sister-in-law, Barbara Morgan; grandchildren, Renee (James) Dufner, Carol (Brent) Danks, Laurel (Jamie) Hyatt, Joanna (Josh) Schofield, Allison (Mike) Zimmerman, and Randall (Pallavee) Bender. She has 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Satterthwaite; brothers, Richard Wing and Robert Wing; parents, Harold and Jessie Wing; sisters and brothers-in-law, Hazel (Wayne) Evans, Esther (Tony) Rohde, Ruth (Dayl) Alden, Claire (Bob) Moore, and Orville Satterthwaite.

Graveside Service: Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Riverview Cemetery, New Town, ND.

Visitation: Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials: are preferred to Immanuel Baptist Church, Youth for Christ, or Campus Crusade for Christ all of Minot.
